Terrific support for WMSC CAST Alumni at the 2010 Olympics
With banners on the hill, wrapping the clubhouse and a big “GO CANADA” WMSC card prominently displayed at the Firerock Lounge, the WMSC cheered on our CAST alumni in the Games. Thanks to Joey Gibbons (WMSC CAST alumni) and his manager Megs McLean for the prominent display for our card at the Firerock Lounge in the Whistler Westin Resort – Megs said it received a lot of attention and great comments.
The banner idea was the brought forward by a small group of enthusiastic club members, past and presnt. Many thanks to Randall Jang, Cheryl Green, Andree Janyk and Dennis Perry for seeing this great vision become reality.
The group also put together cards signed by as many WMSC athelets as we could find and given to each of our Canadain Alpine athletes competting in these Games, plus our Ski Cross ladies who delvered GOLD with Ashleigh McIver's win on February 23rd in Cypress. According to one Alpine Canada official, Britt Janyk was moved to tears by the small gesture of support from her home club.
Many thanks to all our club members who supported our Olympic athletes, cheering them on to the finish in the biggest race of their lives. GO CANADA GO - GO WHISTLER MOUNTAIN SKI CLUB!!
