Ashleigh McIver wins Ski Cross GOLD
Winter finally arrived at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games as the snow flew at Cypress Mountain. Ashleigh McIvor's path to glory was cleared considerably when Ophélie David of France fell in the quarterfinal. David, who has won six consecutive World Cups and lead the points race this season, failed to finish.
The current World Champion and ranked number two in the world coming into these Olympics, Ashleigh was a heavy favorite and not just by the local fans.
Ashleigh raced alpine with WMSC until just a few years ago and was coached by Bob Deeks, Craig Glenday and Jordan Williams.
From all of us at the Whistler Mountain Ski Club, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Thanks for making our club so proud. You are at the top of your game and may your winning ways continue for many years to come.
