Tickets for our annual dinner auction, known this year as “The WMSC Epic Winter Kick-off Party and Auction” are now for sale on line. Tickets are priced considerably lower than in previous years, with a single ticket selling for $69, and $130 for 2. Included in the ticket will be a welcome drink, food stations, a chance participate in the live and silent auctions as well as great entertainment from The Epics.
The Epics - Canada's Premier Rhythm & Blues Band
While the musicians of Motown and Stax were churning out 60's Rhythm & Blues/Soulmusic The Epics were delivering their own heavier brand of West Coast R&B. Opening for acts like 'The Ike & Tina Turner Revue' and featured on the 'Live at the Grooveyard' compilation album, CBC Vancouver's 'Let’s Go' show and the Rhythm & Blues segment of CBC’s 'Rock Classic' filmed at Vancouver’s Commodore in 1990, The Epics' seminal hit single, 'King Size' released in 1968 was one of Canada’s most fully realized contributions to 60s Rhythm & Blues history reaching the top 5 in the local charts remaining in the top 10 for 20 weeks.
With a reputation for moving dance floors The Epics are a powerhouse band with powerhouse vocalists Christine Best and Khari McLelland.
In addition to his musical background, drummer David MacPhail, the founder, leader and visionary of The Epics and past Whistler resident has a ski racing history. He travelled in Europe and South America as the boot fitter for members of Canada’s National Alpine Ski Team including the Crazy Canucks. During this time a secret, balance-enhancing, in-boot technology developed by David and tested in Whistler gave some of Canada’s most successful ski racers a competitive edge over the mighty European racing machine.
The first 200 tickets purchased will be entered in a draw to win a snazzy bag courtesy of Skiis and Biikes – SnowCovers.
