U12 Program Overview

The U12 Program is a designed specifically for ten and eleven year olds who already have shown a keen inclination towards racing and demonstrated very strong skiing skills. The program aims to elevate each individuals technical skill level through increased volume of skiing, diversity on and off snow experiences including “age and stage” appropriate physical and mental training and the introduction to a structured competition. The technical model of this program is firmly based on Alpine Canada Alpin’s AIM2WIN document with participation in limited number of competitions (6 days) on the schedule for this age group.

Training will predominantly occur on weekends from opening to late April and during the Christmas holidays. Some additional educational opportunities are to be made available throughout the season in the form of introduction dryland training, ski tuning and nutrition clinics.

Eligibility for the U12 program is carefully considered by our coaching staff. Therefore, entry to the U12 program must be by WMSC coach referral (at the spring ski-up day) or with proven completion of the Husky Snow Stars level 4 program.

U12 is not a replacement program for J4 which is a very successful program run by Whistler/Blackcomb.
