Developing Champions Fund
Dear Members, Alumni, Friends and Associates:
Today, we start our Developing Champions Fundraising drive for 2008. Contributions are eligible for tax receipts as a registered project of the National Sport Trust Fund.
We have long recognized that the high cost of amateur sports keeps many athletes out of more than token participation. Even for those athletes who do not progress to a provincial or national team level, serious participation in amateur sports breeds a lifetime of good habits and memories. High cost keeps this valuable experience from many who would benefit from it.
Equally we have long recognized that, without a much larger athlete base, Canada will not be as competitive internationally as countries that have reduced the cost of amateur sports for their athletes. Fundraising programs like ours are an important first step in expanding participation in serious amateur sports.
We are a well organized sport club with strong financial resources and a committed membership. We want to be a leader in raising funds. Accordingly, we are starting a drive to raise a grand total of over $500,000 for 2008.
We have set this target based on the number of our athletes and the programs in which they are enrolled:
Fundraising Targets for Individuals
$1600 - K1 Training Squad x 10 athletes for a total goal of $16,250
$2,700 - K1 x 40 athletes for a total goal of $108,000
$3,600 - K2 x 25 athletes for a total goal of $90,000
$4,300 - FIS x 20 athletes for a total goal of $86,000
$6,500 - K2 High Performance x 10 for a total goal of $65,000
$20,000 - FIS High Performance x 10 athletes for a total goal of $200,000
$800 - Masters x 10 athletes for a total goal of $8000
