U16 Program

TRAIN TO TRAIN – The U16 program is designed for 14-15 year old athletes, building on past experiences and further developing their mental, physical and technical skills. Through more self-reflection and use of log books/journals athletes will learn to link their outcomes with their preparations, working towards more autonomy and responsibility for their actions. The experienced, professional staff will encourage clear communication of goals and provide appropriate challenges through free-skiing, drills, and training environments that mimic race situations. Training is primarily on weekends and holidays from late November to mid April with Extended Training opportunities on Thursdays and Fridays. Athletes will compete in zone races, Provincial Championships, Can-Am Western Champs and the Whistler Cup.  U16 athletes have more racing and selection camp opportunities but racing is primarily during the weekends with a few mid-week travel/training days. Overall, U16 athletes are focused on training to race as they prepare for F.I.S. competition. Fitness is scheduled in the fall in both Vancouver and Whistler with Fitness camps throughout the summer & fall - Email Drew Head Coach

This program is available for children born in 2003 & 2004. Proof of birth-date required for all new members.

For the latest posted information about U16 Races see BC Alpine’s Calendar

Program fees do not include the cost of a list pass. All youth aged athletes are eligible for a “Sea to Sky” Pass from Whistler Blackcomb. Application for this pass is directly through Whistler Blackcomb’s pass sales office and to be eligible, athletes must be registered in a WMSC competitive program at time of purchase. Please note that WMSC must confirm applicants status with WB and does so once a week starting Oct. 1 with an update of our athlete list to their pass sales department.

We encourage all athletes to wear the WMSC club uniform. Pre-orders are done in early March – extra’s are ordered so email info@wmsc.info to get on the list. Used ones can also be found on the club website buy and sell: https://wmsc.info/buysell/ , or at the used swap on Thanksgiving Monday at the ski club cabin.

We recommend that each athlete take out additional insurance coverage. Contact WMSC to purchase ACA SAIP Insurance or your own Insurance agent/broker to obtain additional travel and accident insurance. This insurance is in addition to your provincial heathcare coverage which you are also required maintain. All Foreign racers must have their own Accident and Medical Coverage that must include mountain rescue and return to home country, and supply WMSC with a copy of the policy.
