I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone for all the hard work and help that was provided over the weekend to continue the success of the Nancy Greene Skills Event and in creating a successful first ever “Janyk Cup” hosted by the Whistler Mountain Ski Club at Whistler.
As I said to someone today it took a small village to make it all work and without all of you we could not have done it. I believe that it went as smoothly as we could have hoped with the weather cooperating and fantastic team that made it all happen. A special thank you goes out to everyone who was in the Race office, Race Committee, Timing and Station Chiefs. Susie Doiron and Diana Ruse went above and beyond.
With the changed format this year we had a slightly smaller contingent of competitors on Saturday at 115, but increased to 138 strong on Sunday. Thank you to the Cypress and Seymour ski clubs attending on both days and Grouse/Tyee on Sunday. Also a big thank you to the team of WMSC coaches that were integral in all the course setting and keeping our kids safe. Well done.
The kids all seemed to have smiles on their faces and having a great time. This is the most important thing that we are trying to achieve with these events, and obviously we saw some great skiing.
Volunteering is what makes it happen for our kids to race so I hope that you will all continue to put your names forward. What a great learning experience for all of us.
