The second Teck Open U16 race of the season was a speed event at Kimberley Alpine Resort. After travel to Kimberley by plane (for many lucky racers) or bus, two days of speed camp were hosted by the Dreadnaught Ski Racing club on Saturday and Sunday, February 3rd and 4th. Monday and Tuesday (February 4th and 5th) were race days with one Super G race per gender per day. Both days saw the Women racing first, followed by the Men.
The weather on Monday was very good, with calm winds, thin hazy clouds with tiny snow crystals floating around, and sunny breaks from time to time. Our Ladies results were Jaden Dawson on the podium in 3rd place, with Emeline Bennett 4th, Freya Jumonville 7th, Fiona McInnes 8th and Alyssa Emery 10th. For the Men, Tait Jordan topped the podium in first place, and David Wood was 6th and Lukas Forssander 9th.
Tuesday was also a beautiful day; beautiful conditions and a clean track made it a fab race day! Just to keep things interesting though, there was a slight setback when the chair broke down during the Men’s race. Despite the delays, the race was able to be completed, and awards presented. The results for the second day were great again for the WMSC racers. The Ladies had Jaden Dawson on the podium in 2nd place, with Isabella Cross 6th, Fiona McInnes 7th, Alyssa Emery 8th and Freya Jumonville 9th. Tait Jordan found the podium again on the Men’s side, placing 2nd. David Wood was 7th and Graham Selzer was 9th.
