Since the Club's inception in 1968 Whistler Mountain Ski Club (WMSC), a not-for-profit organization, has been committed to the development
and delivery of exceptional ski racing programs that have supported thousands of aspiring ski racers in their pursuit of athletic excellence. Our mission statement is “developing champions in life and sport” and we never forget the importance of each individual’s personal experience with our club and the sport of alpine ski racing. WMSC is dedicated to the development of able-bodied and Paralympic snow sports (specifically Alpine Ski Racing) from entry level ages to Masters in all disciplines including Slalom, Giant Slalom, Super G, Downhill and SkiCross. Each season we anticipate more than 200 young racers to actively participate in our programs.
Over the past five decades, WMSC has played a pivotal role in nurturing and developing countless champions. Olympic and World Cup Champions - Britt Janyk, Manuel Osborne-Paradis, Robbie Dixon, Michael Janyk, Allison Forsyth, Rob Boyd, Jack Crawford as well as National Ski X athletes & Alumni Marielle Thompson, Ashleigh McIvor, Julia Murray, Brian Bennett and Davey Barr, and Para Alpine 2018 Olympic medalist Mollie Jepsen.
In 1992 WMSC founded the Whistler Cup, the only FIS youth race in North America. The Whistler Cup has evolved into a world-class juvenile event. The event attracts over 400 racers from 20 countries, promising some of the best competition in the world for young alpine ski racers. Our coaching staff at the Club is world class with national team level coaching experience. We have a talented and enthusiastic group of Canadian Ski Coaches Federation trained and certified coaches whose positive results in competition over the last few years has rated our program as one of the best in Canada. We include amongst our partners Whistler Blackcomb, and Helly Hansen.
We are a member of both the British Columbia Alpine Ski Association and Alpine Canada Alpin competing under the rules of the International Ski Federation
WMSC remains dedicated to ensuring its programs are accessible thanks to the generosity of our Alumni to provide financial assistance to young racers through our annual bursaries.
To that end there are some significant aspects of this season’s program that new and returning members should be aware of. Complete program details can be found on our website.
